This is a piece of heaven. Ridiculously good cake! Recipe modified from Koristeelliset kakut (Cake decorating) issue 9.

CHOCOLATE CAKE (medium cake)

150 g chocolate (70%)

150 g butter

2 dl flour

2 tsp baking powder

4 tbsp cocoa powder (70%)

150 g muscovado sugar

0,75 dl sugar

2 eggs

4 tbsp yoghurt

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 C
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate, let cool down
  3. Mix all the dry ingredients (flours through a shifter, make sure the muscovado sugar is as evenly mixed as you can mix it)
  4. Mix the eggs with yoghurt
  5. Mix all the ingredients together but don’t whip too hard (as I probably did)
  6. Pour the dough in a cake tin, bake for 75 min
  7. Let cool down and cut in half

200 g chocolate (70%)

4 tbsp milk

40 g butter

200 g powdered sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

  1. Melt the chocolate with the milk, add the butter
  2. Add the powdered sugar (through a shifter, I forgot to do this)
  3. Add the vanilla extract
  4. Let the frosting cool down
  5. Mix (whip) again until creamy (I needed to add some milk as mine was too dry)
  6. Add half of the frosting between the cake layers and use the rest as frosting

The cake is supposed to be a bit moist after baking, mine wasn’t so I moisturized it with milk. My frosting was too dry (probably too much sugar, I didn’t actually measure the amount I put and forgot to shift it) but adding milk helped. The cake is soooooo good!
